School Self-Evaluation Summary

At St Patrick's Catholic Primary School, we are proud to provide a caring, inclusive and ambitious learning environment where every child is valued and encouraged to flourish academically, socially and spiritually. Our annual self-evaluation helps us reflect on our successes and identify areas where we can continue to improve.

^{Our School Community}

We are a welcoming Catholic primary school with 183 pupils from Reception to Year 6. Our school serves families from Corsham, Melksham and surrounding villages. We are proud of our strong sense of community, built on faith, mutual respect and positive relationships. 

We work closely with parents, governors, our parish, local organisations and wider community partners to provide the best possible opportunities for our children. 

^{What We Are Doing Well}

^Safeguarding

Keeping children safe is our highest priority. Our safeguarding arrangements meet Wiltshire Local Authority expectations, with all staff receiving regular safeguarding, online safety and Prevent training. Children are taught how to stay safe, including online, and we work closely with families and external agencies when support is needed. 

^{Inclusion and SEND}

We are proud of our inclusive approach. Children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), disadvantaged pupils and vulnerable learners are well supported through carefully planned provision, strong staff training and close partnerships with families and specialist services. We believe every child should feel they belong and can achieve their potential. 

^{Curriculum and Teaching}

Our curriculum is broad, balanced and engaging, providing children with opportunities to develop knowledge, skills and creativity across a wide range of subjects. Staff continue to work together to strengthen curriculum progression and assessment so that learning builds effectively from year to year. 

^{Personal Development and Well-being}

Children's well-being is at the heart of everything we do. Pupils benefit from a wide range of experiences including arts activities, science projects, sporting events, clubs and community engagement opportunities. Children report that they feel safe, know who to talk to if they are worried, and enjoy coming to school.

^{Attendance and Behaviour}

Attendance remains strong and is in line with national expectations. High standards of behaviour, positive relationships and clear routines help create a calm, safe and respectful environment where children can learn successfully. 

^{Early Years}

Our Early Years provision has been recognised as a strength. Children receive a positive start to their education through high-quality teaching, nurturing relationships and carefully planned learning experiences that promote independence, curiosity and confidence. 

^{Leadership and Governance}

School leaders and governors work closely together to support and challenge the school. They are committed to continuous improvement, staff development and ensuring that all decisions are made in the best interests of children. Parents and the wider community are valued partners in this work. 

^{Our Priorities for Improvement}

• As part of our commitment to continuous improvement, we are focusing on:
• Ensuring that the new RED curriculum is embedded (Years 1,2,3,4,5) and implemented (Years 6) into the Catholic life of the school and is in line with the new Diocesan framework.
• Ensuring there is enough challenge in RE lessons, consistently across the school, to enable pupils to reach the greater depth level.  
• Enabling pupils to plan and lead liturgy through the consistent application of skills progression that is already in place.
• Securing excellence in Foundational Skills for every child
• Consistent implementation of whole-school non-negotiables
